A lead magnet is what you offer to your subscribers in exchange for their email or other contact information. They can be free PDFs, cheat sheets, eBooks, videos, etc.
If you listen to the Marketing for Creatives episode with Liz Pineda about how to sell online with the high converting sales funnels, we talked about what type of lead magnets are trending now.
She analyzed many successful sales funnels and built them for others, and shared that the recent statistic shows that it needs to be a quick win for the person. Something like a workbook, swipe files, or templates that are easy to assume and get a quick result. If it’s too long and complicated people may not finish it.
I had an Instagram guide before as a lead magnet. One day a friend covered me with questions about Instagram.
- Did you read the guide that you got when you subscribed to my email list? All the answers are there. I put so much effort to create it in detail.
- Oh, is that the one with the 52 pages? No, when I saw how much I need to read I closed it.
Funny and sad, but it is how it is. Stuff like eBooks and free video courses do not work as well as before. They take a long time to process, and people don’t take the next step in your sales funnel.
Amy Porterfield got into more detail about choosing the right lead magnet for your audience. She also mentioned that one of the new and interactive ways to attract people is a quiz as a lead magnet and this is what we will go deep into today.
After trying a few quiz platforms, I stopped at Interact. The platform has a variety of ways to create a quiz as you like, the ability to integrate with your email system, detailed statistic, and a reasonable price.

It helps you to define what type of influencer you are as an entrepreneur.
The quiz questions are based on the main criteria that help you to position yourself as an authority and score the results you get.
In the end, you see what stage you are in right now and get personalized recommendations on how to grow your authority.
To create it first, I wrote everything on the paper include:
- Variations of the answers
- Scores of the answers
- Results, based on the score that people get

Here is how I put together a quiz online using Interact and how you can create yours.
How to create an Interact Quiz
Start a new quiz. If this is your first time you will get tips about each step.
Interact has many quiz templates that you can easily adjust for yourself. Here we’ll start from scratch and will go through each step.
As I have a scored test, I choose the third option. The personality type of quizzes are very popular too, so select the one that suits your needs better.
Then, you get to the quiz builder. It begins with the title of your quiz. Also, add an attractive image to it.
Style it with your brand colors.
Next, create all your questions one by one and add the results. Optionally you can add an image to each answer or insert one question image.
When you come up with the questions, try to make them and answers not too complicated so it will be easy for people to go through the quiz.
Set the scores of the answers.
How to integrate Interact quiz with MailChimp
We use the Interact quiz as a lead magnet to grow your email list, so after you finish setting up the quiz, integrate it will your email system.
To collect people’s emails, ask them to leave their emails at the end of the quiz to see the results.
I’ll use MailChimp as an example.
On the left side enable lead capture and data collection.
The first step of integration is to set up the form where people leave an email. Pick what you want to collect and other options you think you need.
The next step is integration itself. Choose your service. I picked MailChimp.
Connect Interact to your MailChimp account.
After you connected them, create a new Merge Field in MailChimp where you want to keep the results of the quiz on your list. Go to your MailChimp audience page and select Audience Fields and Merge Tags in Settings.
Add there a new field label. I named it an Influencer Quiz.
Then, go back to the Interact quiz account Result step. There, you need to assign each result that people get to the action that you want Interact to take. Click Add action.
Select a list and merge field that you want to update when people sign up for the quiz results.
If you want to collect more data about the person from the answers, then you can add actions similar to the above to any answers to the quiz.
In the settings remove the mark for double opt-in. If someone is already on your email list then he or she won’t get any confirmation emails and will get results right after he or she filled the email form.
The data in your email system will be automatically updated for the fields that you set up actions.
On the Fields step pick the fields that you want to update when people complete the email form. Select Email and First Name.
The Quiz Score Value will add the score result of the quiz. I left the field empty as I don’t want to keep the number of points only the result title that people get after they finish the test. We’ve done this at the Result step when we updated the Influencer Quiz merge field.
If you choose to update the Influencer Quiz field as a Quiz Score Value, then the data from the Result step of the Influencer Quiz field will be updated to the score number.
Test the quiz at the last step.
Once you finish the setup, click Publish at the top right corner of the page to save all the changes and publish it. Then you will see the Embed alternatives.
You can use any of the options below or even all of them.
This is how the popup version of the quiz will look on the website.
When you embed the quiz into your website, think about where you want to redirect people for the results. If your result pages are created in Interact, then they will be shown on your site without any problems.

After setting up your quiz drive people to its page: share it on social media, add it to your email signature, mention it when you post videos, etc.
